Dr. Mimi Israël is chief of the department of psychiatry of the Montreal West Island Integrated University Health and Social Services Centre. She was the Chief of the Department of Psychiatry of the Douglas Institute from 2001 to 2015 and Chief of the Department of Psychiatry of McGill University from 2008 to 2015. She is also a treating psychiatrist in the Eating Disorders Program, specialized medical respondent in psychiatry, and Associate Professor at McGill University.

Winner of four McGill University teaching awards, she was also awarded the Grand Prix from the Collège des médecins du Québec in 2006 and the prestigious Prix reconnaissance de carrière Persillier-Lachapelle of the health and social services network in 2013. Her experience as a manager, teacher, researcher and clinician has allowed her to acquire a comprehensive understanding of the Quebec mental health system and to play a key role in designing and implementing several changes that have had a significant impact on the organization of services in institutions she serves
